FLORIDA CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSTS (FL-CBAs)

The BACB maintains the certification issued to a small number of FL-CBAs, who were originally certified by the Florida Department of Children and Families/APD. To verify the certification of a FL-CBA, please submit your request by completing the Verification Letter Request form.

In October 2003, the Behavior Analyst Certification Board® (BACB®) assumed all certifying responsibilities for certificants of the defunct Florida Behavior Analysis Certification Program under the Florida Department of Children and Families.* Individuals certified under this program are permitted to continue using the Florida Certified Behavior Analyst® (FL-CBA®) designation.

While FL-CBAs have the responsibilities and privileges associated with the Board Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®) certification—including adhering to its ethics and maintenance requirements—the FL-CBA designation is valid only in Florida. FL-CBAs whose certification has expired must reapply under current BCBA requirements; they are ineligible for the Qualify for Examination via Past Certification option.
