Schedule and Deadlines

Complete applications* received by the application deadline will be reviewed and responded to in advance of the following month’s testing window.  Applications submitted after the deadline will be processed in the order in which they are received; however, they are not likely to be processed with sufficient time to register for an examination in the same testing window.

*Documents must be received by the BACB office by 4PM Mountain Time in order to be considered on-time. A completed application includes:

  • Full payment received
  • Online application submitted and complete
  • All supporting documents (e.g., university transcript, Experience Verification Forms) and any additional documentation (e.g., degree equivalency evaluation documentation, coursework evaluation documentation, degree evaluation documentation) received.**
**If documentation is incomplete or does not meet the current requirements when initially submitted, the application will not be considered on-time. Any additional or updated documents (e.g., coursework evaluation documentation, new Experience Verification Form) will be considered for the next testing window. For that reason, it is recommended that applicants apply as early as possible in order to ensure ample time to address any application deficiencies.

***Applicants choose the exact date, time, and location for their examination based upon the appointments available at the time the appointment is scheduled. Appointments are available on a “first-come, first-served” basis. The sooner an applicant submits their documentation, the better chances the applicant will have to obtain an appointment that meets their preferences. Information about testing site locations can be found on Pearson VUE’s website.

Examination Appointment Fee

Pearson VUE charges a fee for every appointment. This fee is not included in the application fees paid to the BACB. It is paid directly to Pearson VUE when the appointment is made. The fee is $125. Candidates may be required to pay applicable sales tax, value-added tax, GST, or similar tax required by law in the country or locality in which they are testing. If taxes are applicable, they will be collected at the time of scheduling by Pearson VUE.

Veterans who qualify for the GI Bill can receive reimbursement for BACB certification examination fees from the Department of Veterans Affairs, regardless of whether they pass the examination. Learn more about this benefit on the GI Bill website.

An applicant may reschedule or cancel a testing appointment up to one day prior to his or her appointment. Examination appointment fees will not be refunded if the applicant fails to appear for a scheduled appointment, cancels less than one day prior to a scheduled appointment, or is not admitted due to lack of proper identification.
