The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) are pleased to announce that management of the Verified Course Sequence system (VCS) will be transferred from the BACB to ABAI on December 1, 2018. The BACB established the VCS system to reduce the resources required for application processing at a time when there was no other way to easily identify training programs that met basic coursework requirements. It is a customary practice for a professional association to oversee training programs in a discipline, and ABAI is committed to fostering high-quality education in behavior analysis. As part of this commitment, ABAI will develop its own process and procedures to evaluate and verify course sequences that meet the coursework requirements for individuals attempting to become certified by the BACB.
The BACB will no longer manage the VCS system as of December 1, 2018. This includes listserv communications for VCS Coordinators, making modifications to existing sequences, and review of pending applications. All applications that have not been approved by December 1, 2018 will need to be submitted to ABAI on or after January 1, 2019. Beginning January 1, 2019, ABAI will manage all aspects of the VCS system. This includes accepting new applications, renewing current VCSs, and managing modifications to existing VCSs.
