What is the difference between a BACB ID number and a certification number?
A: Your BACB ID number is a unique 6–7-digit number that identifies your BACB portal account. Everyone who creates a BACB portal account receives a BACB ID number, regardless of whether they hold a BACB certification. Your BACB ID number should typically be kept private and provided only when specifically requested, such as on specific BACB forms.
If you are certified, you will also have a BACB certification number. Unlike a BACB ID number, your certification number follows a specific format that identifies your certification type and the year you first became certified.
Certification numbers are formatted as follows:
- RBT: RBT-YY-XXXXX
- BCaBA: 0-YY-XXXXX
- BCBA: 1-YY-XXXXX
In each format, YY represents the last two digits of the year you first earned that certification.
When entering a BACB ID number or certification number on an application to search for a trainer, assessor, supervisor, or other certificant, be sure to select the correct entry type. Certification number is selected by default and will look like this:
Use the drop-down menu to select 0 or 1, enter the 2-digit year in the second field, and enter the remaining digits of the certification number in the final field.
