BCBA REQUIREMENT

BCBA certification requires a graduate degree, advanced training in behavior analysis, and a passing score on the BCBA exam.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants for BCBA certification must meet one of the following three options:

Option 1

 requires an acceptable graduate degree from an accredited university, completion of acceptable graduate coursework in behavior analysis, and a defined period of supervised practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam.

Option 2

 requires an acceptable graduate degree, a full-time faculty position in behavior analysis that includes research and teaching, and supervised practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam.

Option 3

requires an acceptable doctoral degree that was conferred at least 10 years ago and at least 10 years’ post-doctoral practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam.

Exam:

Applicants must take and pass BCBA exam, regardless of the eligibility option used to qualify. Authorization to take the exam is only provided to applicants who have submitted a complete exam application to the BACB, including all documentation necessary to demonstrate that they have met all of the criteria for one of the eligibility options above.
